About The First Tee:
In 1997, the World Golf Foundation created The First Tee, an organization designed to make golf accessible and affordable for all youth. Currently, The First Tee has over 200 facilities/affiliates in operation worldwide and has impacted the lives of over two million youth.
The First Tee uses golf as a means to promote character development in the youth of our communities. As stated in the following mission statement, this program allows our children to be introduced to the game of golf and the many benefits it includes.
Through the First Tee program, students will be introduced to nine core values set forth by the First Tee. They are as follows:
The program uses a combination of golf skills and life skills to help strengthen these values in our youth. In addition to the nine core values, First Tee participants are given the opportunity to develop communication skills, learn to overcome obstacles, begin setting and achieving goals, understand wellness and nutrition while having fun playing golf. While each First Tee facility is unique, the goal remains the same: using golf to impact the lives of the youth in our communities and to help provide them with valuable skills for life.
